Minnesota State "Equal To" USDA Inspection ProgramMinnesota is one of 27 states currently operating Meat and Poultry Inspection (MPI) programs that are considered "equal to" the federal USDA program. Establishments in this program can slaughter and process products to wholesale to any entity within Minnesota. Retailers, restaurants, and schools can buy meat from Minnesota E2 establishments. Products contain a State symbol with "inspected and passed." This program strengthens local food systems and helps consumers know their local farmers.
